1Before you startAvant de commencer

The Samples OS tab needs one more file, the official model-samples_OS1.13.syx. The SAMPLE machine needs only the Model:Cycles file. L'onglet OS Samples demande un fichier de plus, l'OS officiel model-samples_OS1.13.syx. La machine SAMPLE ne demande que le fichier du Model:Cycles.

No firmware is provided here. The page modifies your own file on your computer and checks the result against a reference build before sending it. Aucun firmware n'est fourni ici. 2FlashingFlasher

1. In the flasher, tick the mods you want: they are sorted into sections, and they combine. 3. Close Elektron Transfer, connect the Model:Cycles over USB and turn it on normally: no menu to open. Allow MIDI in the browser: the page finds the Model:Cycles and shows its OS version.Fermez Elektron Transfer, branchez le Model:Cycles en USB et allumez-le normalement : aucun menu à ouvrir. The page uses the update protocol of Elektron Transfer, worked out by Elektroid: the Model:Cycles checks every block as it arrives. You can also download the prepared .syx in step 4 and drop it onto Elektron Transfer's window. If the fast method doesn't find the Model:Cycles, choose Classic in step 3: press SETTINGS, open CONFIG › UPGRADE and confirm. The firmware then travels at MIDI speed (5 to 10 minutes) and the Model:Cycles shows UPDATING FLASH before restarting. 3SAMPLE machine (Cycles One-Shot)

One extra machine, SAMPLE, plays a sample from the +Drive once per trig, the way the Model:Samples does: 6-tap interpolation at 96 kHz, then the Model:Cycles' own decimator and amp chain, and the Model:Samples' filter. The sample is chosen in the PRESET browser and saved with the sound, so projects, kits, presets and sound locks keep it. It is the Cycles One-Shot machine, built here from its own code at version 0.7.

1. Put samples on the +Drive first: with Elektron Transfer, or with One-Shot's upload page (uploader/ in its repository), which works with the official OS too. Samples left there by the Model:Samples OS work as they are.
2. Press MACHINES and pick SAMPLE, the 7th machine, after Chord. Its icon is Tone's.
3. Open the PRESET browser (FUNC + MACHINE) on that track and open a sample file: the sound takes the sample's name and plays it. Hold a step while you open a sample and the step gets it as a sound lock.
4. Shape the sound with the four knobs (table below). DECAY starts at 127 so a sample plays out; GATE is heard with a lower DECAY; PUNCH works as on Tone. PITCH, the keys and FINE set the pitch as on every machine: PITCH 0 at note 60 plays the sample as recorded, whatever its sample rate.
5. The main screen shows the sample's name in a bar and its waveform across the screen; two lines mark where a trig starts and stops, and move as you turn COLOR and SHAPE.

Sound

one voice per track, one shot per trig. No clicks at the edges: 4 ms fades at the end of what a trig plays, and at its start when Start lies inside the sample. The filter fades rather than switches across the centre, so a square LFO on Cutoff does not click; at Cutoff 0 the track is untouched, bit for bit. Stereo files play as mono; files at other rates keep their pitch.

Samples

the sample memory is 47 MB of RAM the Model:Cycles' OS leaves unused. Samples load in the background when a project, kit or sound names them, and unload when nothing does.

Limits

no looping and no reverse yet. The filter runs before Volume + Dist, where the Model:Samples has it after: with DIST above 0, the distortion acts on the filtered signal.

Other mods

goes with the sequencer, screen, MIDI and USB mods. Not with MACRO, ACID, the Syntakt engines, Model-TG, the per-track filter or sample preview for now: the other machines take the same place in the firmware and there is no combined build with SAMPLE yet; Model-TG and the per-track filter change the same sound record functions.

Tested

One-Shot 0.7 on a Model:Cycles (2026-10-21): samples open and play, pitch, Start and Length, the filter, several SAMPLE tracks, saved projects, sound locks, the waveform view. This page builds One-Shot 0.8 composed from its compiled object by model27's registrar runtime, which differs from that firmware in how the machine is registered (a runtime reading a parameter block instead of detours assembled per build) and at three instructions (the machine's index read as a symbol). Flashed from this page, that build was tested in the digiemu emulator and on a Model:Cycles (2026-10-22); the same runtime also ran there with a second machine next to SAMPLE.

Before flashing another choice or the official firmware, set your SAMPLE tracks back to an original machine (Kick to Chord): the official OS doesn't have SAMPLE, and a project that still names it can freeze its MACHINES page.

5Mods on a Model:SamplesDes mods sur un Model:Samples

A Model:Samples can run the Model:Cycles OS with the same mods as a Model:Cycles. Whatever the machine, the flasher always installs the Model:Cycles OS. With the SAMPLE machine ticked, it can play the samples already on the +Drive (not yet tried on a Model:Samples).Un Model:Samples peut faire tourner l'OS du Model:Cycles avec les mêmes mods qu'un Model:Cycles. The Official firmware tab of the flasher sends your OS file unchanged, over USB, like a normal update. It is also a good rehearsal before a first mod: it checks the cable and the setup without changing anything.L'onglet Firmware officiel du flasher renvoie votre fichier d'OS sans le modifier, par USB, comme une mise à jour normale. 8RecoverySecours

If the Model:Cycles no longer starts, its startup menu can always reinstall the OS: it lives in an area that updates never write.Si le Model:Cycles ne démarre plus, son menu de démarrage peut toujours réinstaller l'OS : il vit dans une zone que les mises à jour n'écrivent jamais.

1. With the Model:Cycles off, hold FUNC and turn it on (press and hold MAIN VOLUME).Model:Cycles éteint, maintenez FUNC et allumez-le (appui long sur MAIN VOLUME).

The startup menu doesn't listen to the USB port, only to the MIDI IN (3.5 mm jack, or DIN through the adapter supplied with the Model:Cycles).
